About Us
Thurlstone Primary School is a small, friendly rural school nestled in the peaceful village of Thurlstone, surrounded by the beautiful foothills of the Pennines. Our stunning location, just a short drive from Sheffield, Wakefield and Barnsley and moments from Holmfirth and ‘Summerwine’ country, gives our school a real sense of community and belonging. With seven single‑age classes and 181 wonderful children, we are a close‑knit school where everyone is known, valued and encouraged to shine.
Our motto — Grow Together; Learn Together; Feel Loved — sits at the heart of everything we do. We are committed to nurturing the whole child, providing a stimulating and safe environment where confidence, independence and friendship can flourish. Through our creative curriculum, we help children become mature, caring and enterprising individuals who understand their place in the world. We celebrate achievement, spark enthusiasm and foster a genuine love of learning.
With a history dating back to 1880, Thurlstone Primary has a rich story to tell. If you’d like to explore our early years, click the link to read the first two school log books from 1880–1904.
